Character Outline
Kei (敬, Kei) is voiced by Romi Park. She is the 15-year-old, official candidate to be the 11th Boss of the
Chiavarone Famiglia (キャバッロネファミリー, Kyabarrone Famirī), which is the number three Family in its Mafia alliance with the Vongola Family and is one of the largest families with 8,000 members. Kei is a teenage girl with great leadership skills, along with great combat skills--inherited from her parents. His main Weapons are a Longe Whip and his pet turtle, Enzo. She is the first daughter of
Dino Cavallone and
Hibari Kyouya, and since her childhood, she had been training to replace her father and lead the Famiglia. Her title, "Equestrienne" (
エクエストリエーン, Ekuestrieen) , derived from her unsurpassed horse-riding skill and terrifying combat technique while she's on it. Like her father, her left arm is covered with tattoos. Due to her parents' blood, she became a half-Italian, half-Japanese.
Personality
Kei is normally a cheery, optimist girl. She shares this trait from her father, whom she adores and respects very much. However, when she is put in the middle of battlefield, she will sink into her battle-freak persona and beats her opponents quietly, much like her mother in his early days. Aside from the bloody mafia life, she cares for her friends and family, always putting them as her main priorities.
Plot Overview
Eleventh Generation Arc
Kei first appears when Nana gathers her fellow candidate mafia bosses. She immediately hugs Kaede, her little brother and also Nana's Cloud Guardian, until Nana noted that Kei suffocates him. She's later seen rescuing Nana and Kiku from assassins sent to kill them, then the three of them manages to beat those assassins. During a trial given from
Decima Generazione, together with Kaede, she have to fight Dino and Hibari. They're almost beaten, but their resolutions to win allow them to open their box weapons. Kei's Sky Pegasus defeated Dino's
Sky Horse, while Kaede's Cloud Wolf defeated Hibari's
Cloud Hedgehog. After the trials end, she is seen with Hibari in an airport. Hibari intends to see her off, and they made a promise to see each other again once Kei gets stronger.
Childhood Arc: Kei Edition
Her edition includes various moments with different people from Decima Generazione, and she gets lot of episode due to the amount of her relatives. Most of them tells about her mischief, such as pulling pranks on
Mukuro and
Squalo. There are also a few chapters telling how she builds friendship with Nana and the other Undicesima Generazione. In this edition, it is shown that Kei has strong compatibility with Illusion users, such as Mukuro,
Fran,
Kawahira, and Albafica. Also, in one of the episodes, it is revealed that her acrophobia is a result of Mukuro's revenge.
Relationships
Dino Cavallone and Hibari Kyouya
They are her parents, Kei refers to Dino as "Papa" and Hibari as "Mamma". She is their biological child, born thanks to Mukuro's illusory wombs. She never questions her mother's real gender, because she learned from Mukuro himself about basic reproduction when she was still so young, and even after she turns into a teenage girl, she accepts the fact that her family is, like the Vongolas, an un-ordinary one.
Rokudou Mukuro
Technically, he is Kei's godfather, because without him, she wouldn't exist at all. Kei likes and despises him at the same time. Likes him for his illusions and playful attitude, and despises him for his somewhat seductive behaviour toward her mamma. When she was younger, he oftens become the object of her pranks, and one day he revenged for his small sufferings, which caused the poor girl to obtain acrophobia.
Fran
She treats him as her older brother, and he treats her as his little sister. Both of them are very close. Fran always protects her from Mukuro (though most of the time, he fails). They are also about the same age, and Fran is Albafica's tutor, hence they often meet and they maintains their close relationship.
Abilities and Weapons
- Longe Whip: Unlike Dino, Kei favors Longe Whip as her primary weapon. She called it Aurora Whip, because each time she lashes it, the sparks created when it hits her opponent are similar to aurora's color.
- Salto Volante Veloce Come Luce (Light-speed Flying Jump, lit. Jumping Flying Fast Like Light): A skill that she inherited from Dino. Shee moves it a pattern at super speed, leaving almost no opening. When combined with her Sky Flames its gives the appearance of light moving from every direction.
- Revolver: When faced with opponent that fights at long distance, Kei will use her revolver to shoot them down. Xiana is her tutor at marksmanship.
- Atla: A Box Weapon of regeneration, shaped as a small, thick-furred sheep. This is Kei's first Box Weapon which Dino gave her when she was five years old, so she can heals herself in case Squalo hurts her.
- Equites (lit. the Knight): Kei's primary box weapon which takes form of a white pegasus. When she rides on him, her combat skill increased and she is said to be unrivaled.
Trivia
- She is half-Italian and half-Japanese, thus she has dual nationality. However, it seems she prefers to be called as Italian because she thinks she inherits most of her father's appearance.
- Her middle name is Calandra, taken from Dino's deceased mother's name.
- It is debated whether she is a pedophile or an ojikon, because despite her intimate relationship with several uncles of hers, she is also fond of young children such as Kaede and Albafica.
- She has a very high compatibility with Mist Flame users. Ironically, her mother, Hibari, is not fond of Illusionists.
- Her favorite food is potato.
- She treats Fran as her older brother.
- Aside from her exotic tattoo, the size of her busts is one of her most attractive traits.
- She resembles Dino during her childhood, but grows to be a female version of Hibari when she reaches teen age.
- Due to childhood trauma, she is afraid of height.
- She is capable to emit Sky Flames, thanks to Hibari's constant trainings.
- She is weak against cold weather, often shown wearing big, large jacket to cover herself during cold days.
- Her given name, Kei, means "respect", which is represented in Hibari's given name Kyouya (Kyou means "respect" too).
