Mukuro Rokudo, originally known as Nebbia. He's the forgotten Reyvateil, with the status of 'one and only male Reyvateil'. He plotted to take over Sol Ciel and attempted to kill Shurelia, but failed and instead given the position to administer Sea of Death.

Birth

Created with the name Nebbia, he was among the first Reyvateils created in the First Era. He was originally given the task to administer Ar Tonelico in Sol Ciel, however, when the scientists found out that no male β Type could be made, it was decided that male Reyvateils unable to live on. They considered to kill Nebbia, who was just five years old back then, but eventually decided to lock him up in Plasma Bell, along with Kanade and Meimei's sister, Mai. Until he grows up and learns about the truth, he befriends the gynoid and treated her as a sister, and he envied Mai when she told him that she have two other sisters that assigned in different places. Mai's death when the Plasma Bell was destroyed hurt his heart very much, though he never showed any tears or sad expression.

When Nebbia learnt that he wasn't needed to live, he was angry. He then break through Plasma Bell, with a promise that he would let Mai meet her sisters once he took over Sol Ciel. However, his promise was in vain, because he was soon captured and sentenced to death. Within last minutes before he brought to guillotine, he created a powerful Song Magic called EXEC_REVERIS and managed to kill everyone within the radius of 1 mile. He then proceeded to flee, but when he found out that he was cornered, he smiled innocently and said, "No matter how many times this soul leave the vessel called body, it shall continue to reincarnate and it shall hunt down the bloody lineage of those who exiles me". He then jumped off to the Sea of Death, and believed to die.

Tsukikanade

When he woke up, he found himself bandaged and lying down on a hard bed, unable to move. Later, someone met him and introduced himself as Dio. Nebbia found out that he was on the land beneath the Sea of Death, where the long-forgotten clan, Tsukikanade, lived quietly and peacefully. Nebbia revealed that he came from the surface, and didn't intend to return because now he hates those People of the Surface (a term to refer to the people who lived above the Sea of Death). Dio didn't mind and accepted Nebbia to live with their society. Also, with his authority as the leader of Tsukikanade, Dio took him as his brother and renamed Nebbia as Rokudo Mukuro.

At first, Mukuro enjoyed his times among the Tsukikanade. The people were nice and always helped him, especially when he had to adjust with the weather on the land. He was so thrilled when Dio created a festival called Iasien to celebrate Mukuro's birthday. During that festival, Mukuro would sing his best song that he created himself, Hitoribocchi no Sadame (psssh yes I know it's Hibari's song, just STFU), and they would pray for the peace of their land. Everything's good, until Dio's died of old age.

Suddenly the Tsukikanade began acting cold toward him. Even when he's asking their help to do a heavy work, they would ignore him or even yelled at him to do it himself. Later, he found out that those people never really cared about him, except Dio. Because Dio was their leader, and he took Mukuro as his brother to protect him, then they had no choice but to be nice at him. But now that Dio's died, they could banish him.

Distraught, Mukuro thought to kill those people with EXEC_REVERIS, but he couldn't for some reasons. One, because his location unreachable for the Tower to connect with his Soulspace. Two, because he had lived with them for many years and considered them as a family, he couldn't bring himself to hurt them. So, after many considerations, he escaped with few supplies to feed himself for several days and a stuffed frog--a memento of Dio.

Wandering aimlessly, Mukuro thought he would die when he found the ruins of Neo Elemia, and also the entrance into the Tower. Thinking that he should meet with Mai once again, and maybe fulfilling his promise to make her meet her sisters, Mukuro began to climb up the Tower, and eventually reached Floating Wharf, only to collapse from extreme exhaustion.

Truth

After he regained his conscience, he found himself within an inn in Floating Wharf. Apparently, some travelers found him and asked the innkeeper to treat him for awhile. To express his gratitude, Mukuro made a one-night show in the inn, where he sang the song he crafted during his imprisonment within the Plasma Bell: Nusumenai Houseki (if you know which game owns the soundtrack, you'll win a sketch of Mukuloid lol). His performance attracted a lot customers, and it made the innkeeper asked Mukuro to stay and work as a singer. However, Mukuro refused and said that he had to leave and visit a friend who lived in Plasma Bell.

It was then when everyone informed him that the Plasma Bell that he mentioned was partly destroyed during Mir's rebellion. Because none really know or dare to visit Plasma Bell, they didn't know whether the friend that Mukuro said still alive or had been killed during the coup, so it made Mukuro a bit panic. He quickly prepared himself to climb up again, praying that Mai's still alive.

When he arrived in Plasma Bell, he tried to access the lift that led to Mai's administering room, but failed. He was panicked, and bad thoughts came across his minds. Kanade, the guardian one-and-only Plasma Bell now, confronted him upon receiving signals of a stranger trying to breakthrough the place's transport system. She was about to attack the distraught Mukuro, when her scan system identified him as Nebbia, the long-lost male Reyvateil and her sister, Mai's, closest friend. She canceled her intention to eliminate Mukuro, and instead opened up a hologram screen, which turned out to be Mai's last message to Mukuro, recorded right before she had to fight in order to prevent Mir's attacks.

From the record, Mukuro learnt that Mai never believed that Mukuro can fulfill his promise, because the maintenance-roid sisters are destined to never see each other since they were created. However, she didn't mind and admired Mukuro's idea and determination to claim freedom and approval from everyone, that a male Reyvateil like him can continue to live even though he was the only one of his kind that managed to survive. Mai told him to meet Shurelia and offers a peace treaty, because she knew that the Goddess isn't an evil being. She was about to say something very private and affectionate, when a loud crash could be heard from the record and she quickly close down the record, thus ending the message.

After the record ended, Kanade suddenly stated a 'thank you' to Mukuro. When he asked her why she thanked him, she said that she was grateful her sister didn't feel lonely or sad--as seen in the record, where Mai kept smiling--because Mukuro was there to accompany her. She added that because Mai treated him as her brother, thus Kanade grown a sisterly feeling toward him as well. However, Mukuro objected, saying that his sister was Mai only, and though the maintenance-roids were sisters, he couldn't accept Kanade and Meimei as his sisters too. Kanade understand that, and told him that she wouldn't attack him. As an addition, she also opened the access to the highest level of the Tower and contacted Meimei to help Mukuro reaching Shurelia, who was residing on Rinkernator at the moment. Grateful, Mukuro asked what Kanade wanted in return, and she said that her only wish was for Mukuro convey her message to Meimei when he sees her.

Acceptance

As promised, Meimei helped Mukuro to reach Rinkernator. Before he departed to the place, he delivered Kanade's message: "Please be healthy, neesan". Meimei just smiled and noted to herself to chat with Kanade when they weren't busy. Thus, with a small good bye, Mukuro climbed up to Rinkernator. Meimei assisted her by blocking each enemies assaulted him, thus allowed Mukuro to reach Shurelia's place without a scratch.

When he arrived on that place, he saw Shurelia speaking with another Reyvateil that he didn't know. Thinking that he didn't have to properly introduce himself, immediately cast a basic Song Magic, which is faster to cast than his other Song Magic. However, he didn't expect the other Reyvateil to block his attack and even send him down with a powerful kick on the stomach. Shurelia separated them away and scolded the other Reyvateil, Mir. After calming down the two side, Shurelia introduced each other. Mir, had been reading and fantasizing that one day she could meet a male Reyvateil, was excited and eager to ask questions about Mukuro. Mukuro, on the other hand, was enraged due to the fact that Mir was the one who caused Mai's death during her rebellion. Controlled by anger, Mukuro casted a quick-cast song and because they didn't expect it, both female Reyvateils didn't have the chance to defend themselves against the blast.

Meimei, who was monitoring the situation on the Rinkernator, immediately called for help to the Knights of Elemia at Platina, seeing that there's chance their Goddess would be killed. They came and by the time they arrived there, the three Reyvateils were heavily wounded and the Rinkernator was damaged, causing it was impossible for Shurelia to execute any commands for the Tower from there. After lot of efforts, they managed to capture Mukuro and jailed him within the Crescent Chronicle, with Misha singing Chronicle Key to seal Mukuro's power.

Shurelia and Mir interrogated Mukuro to find out why he attacked them, though the answer was obvious and Mukuro refused to say anything. Knowing that Mukuro wouldn't speak up unless Shurelia touch 'the topic', she started the conversation with an apology, saying that she still wouldn't give her authority to Mukuro. Mukuro said that he wasn't intending to start a war against her again, and then explained his real intention. Mir coldly stated that she wouldn't apologize, because apologizing wouldn't make Mai returned from death. Mukuro knew that, and apologized before stating that now all his feelings of remorse had been cleared, he felt his life was empty. Shurelia kindly offered Mukuro to return to the community, which he rejected because he knew he couldn't life with among those people because like Mir, he still harbor hatred toward humans after they betrayed him so many times. Mir then suggested Mukuro to work as a some sort of caretaker to the Musical Corridor, Silver Horn, and Crescent Chronicle--checking the conditions of those places and repairs them when something bad happens. He, obviously rejected and they were forced to keep him locked up within the Crescent Chronicle for several days.

Starting for the day of his imprisonment, Dio would appear in his dreams and scolded him for his foolish actions. One day, he told Mukuro to wipe away his intention to avenge Mai's death, but Mukuro objected and questioned him, [what should I do after I lose my target? I will become...empty...]. Dio was about to answer his question, when Mukuro woke up to find out that he was put in a Dive Machine in the Observatory, Meimei's place. It turns out that Mir was trying to hack into Mukuro's mind, and because he's still connected to Ar Tonelico server, she did it as easily as she hacked into Shurelia. She changed several datas within him, inflicting pains to him that Shurelia have to comfort him. After hours passed, Mir completed her task: changing Mukuro's Hymn Code, from NEBBIA_ANSUL_ARTONELICO, to NEBBIA_ANSUL_NAM. Mukuro was, obviously, furious, but after Shurelia explained that they had to forcefully change his Code because he had to change his Code for his new job, he was silenced.

He was pointed to administer Sea of Death.
